Baby Dedication services are held at Grace approximately four times per year. Our next dedication service is scheduled for Sunday, October 3rd during our 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. services. Click here to download an application.

At Grace Christian Church we have a ‘Dedication Service’ rather than a baptism or christening service for our babies or young children.  Why?

We believe that baptism is by total immersion in water.  Matt 3:16, Acts 8:38

We believe that baptism is an act of obedience that follows a decision for Christ and a confession of faith.  This would require a person to be of an age to hear, understand, and respond to the gospel.  Acts 2:41, Acts 18:8

We see examples of children dedicated to the Lord or presented to Him in a formal service.  These examples are:

Samuel I Sam 1:11, 22

Jesus Luke 2:21-24

The definition for dedicate is to set apart and consecrate to a deity (God) or to a sacred purpose (a life lived for God).  To dedicate is to devote wholly and earnestly oneself to a person or purpose.

Therefore in a Dedication Service we as parents are dedicating ourselves to God in our role as parents and dedicating our children to Him before the congregation of believers.

In a Dedication Service at Grace:

Parents commit themselves before God and the congregation to raise their children in the ways of the Lord, recognizing that they are stewards of this precious gift from Him.

The congregation is exhorted to uphold this family in prayer and be available to help in any way needed in the years to come.

Hands are laid on the parents and child in a prayer of blessing.

Our Dedication Services are a special and joyful time of celebration for our church family.  Children are a gift from God!  Psalm 127:3
